“ I took my first quilting class years ago at the Smithsonian and then
had a hand piecing class while we were posted in Brazil in 1984-6.
This jump started my love of quilting! Over the years I belonged to
Reston Quilters Unlimited and London Quilters and worked for my
teacher, Leslie Pfeifer, at the Quilt Patch in Fairfax, VA. I worked and
taught there for 4 years and later at Artful Quilter in Centreville, VA.
for 4 years. Art quilting is my real passion, and I have taken classes at Quilt Surface Design Symposium and Art Quilt Network. I belong to Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) and Fiber Artists at Loose Ends. Also, you all remember my speaking about Sacred Threads! I look forward to sharing my free motion quilting tips with you all on Fri, March 5 in class from 10-2. I will have a trunk show on Sat, March 6.”

May 2021

In May, our guest speaker and virtual workshop will be given by Heather Kojan. Check out her website at to see her many exciting ideas and quilts! According to her online bio: “I’ve been sewing quilting for more than 25 years. My first quilt was a king-sized log cabin quilt – go big or go home, right? I consider myself a modern quilter, with traditional roots. I love taking traditional patterns and giving them a modern spin. And scrap quilts? My favorite! I live in Baltimore with 1 husband, 1 dog, and 4 sewing machines. I teach modern quilting classes at shops, guilds and shows across the country.” Heather is the founder and first president of the Baltimore

Modern Quilt Guild. She is a co-author of the book Classic Modern Quilts and is featured
in The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters. You can also find her work in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks.
